Equipping Individuals for the Future

The educational program provides a continuum of learning for students in each year of schooling from Prep to Year 12.  It is attentive to the individual needs of each student and provides a clearly defined continuum.  It offers several pathways allowing educators to individualise learning to best meet the needs of each student.

FACILITIES

All the buildings and facilities at Faith Baptist Christian School are modern and include computing facilities in each classroom, library and resource building, AV room, conference room, auditorium, indoor hall, kitchen facility, science lab, arts room, sports facilities and equipment.  All buildings are of brick construction and air-conditioned.

The location at Burua has the school set in rural surroundings with easy access from the Dawson Highway.  The site affords adequate area for the development of extensive sports facilities and as it is situated adjacent to the El Shaddai Ranch, also owned by Faith Baptist Church, it has the potential for considerable extra-curricular and recreational activities.

DIAGNOSTIC TESTING

Prior to enrolment in the School all students must undergo the appropriate Diagnostic Test set by the School.

Year 7 to Year 10

In Years 7 – 10 students are encouraged to make sense of their world, their identity and their personal contribution to the world.  An expansive education provides them with essential skills and interest bases which allow them to plan pathways for meaningful vocational and employment outcomes.

Students also have opportunity to apply Biblical principles and demonstrate positive character traits.  An emphasis is placed on encouraging students to apply wisdom to their every-day life and decision making.

Students have opportunities to deepen their understanding in learning areas that are meaningful to their interests and employment plans.  There is a broad range of learning areas for students to select from as they manage their personal learning pathway.  Flexibility provides students with opportunities to plan vocational, academic and advanced academic pathways.

Year 11 – Year 12

The school’s Year 11–12 senior pathways program offers students a diverse range of academic pathways.  In the senior phase of learning, students may undertake courses towards one of the following eligible options:

  • The Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)
  • The Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA)
  • A Vocational Education Training (VET) Certificate III or Certificate IV

In order to maximise the student’s chance of achieving one of the eligible options, students and parents must consider the combination of subjects, student ability levels through meeting pre-requisites, commitment to study and future aspirations when nominating for years 11 and 12.  In consultation with the school staff, a Student Education and Training Plan (SET Plan) is designed to map the student’s individual learning pathway through the Senior Phase of Learning.
